‘A Series of Mathematical Short Stories’ Guest Lecture

ASOC will
be hosting a guest lecture titled “A series of Mathematical Short Stories” this coming Thursday. Details are as follows:

Speaker: Randell Heyman
Time: 2-3pm
Date: Thursday 24/9/09
Location: Red Centre M032

Randell Heyman has previously lectured at the School of Actuarial Studies. His guest lecture aims to cover several mathematical topics including:

•    The Need For Proof
•    Big Big Numbers
•    The Hardest Seemingly Easy Problem
•    The Most Amazing Series Ever
•    The Strangest Links Between Numbers… And Between Symbols

This lecture aims to be a fascinating experience, as opposed to teaching mathematical theory and techniques. All students are encouraged to attend.
