2008 IAAust ASOC Apprentice Rules
Applicant Details
a) Applicants to the ASOC Apprentice Competition must be current members of ASOC. Executive members of ASOC are not eligible to apply.
b) Applications may be entered by individuals or groups of up to four.
c) Each applicant may submit up to three event suggestions although each must have significant differences or they must be combined into one proposal.
d) In the case that an applicant is not able to attend the event itself, the idea may still be submitted if other members involved in the event submission will be in attendance.
Prizes
a) The winning applicant(s) will be awarded $200 per group which is to be divided amongst the group members
b) The winning applicant(s) and finalists will be given ASOC certificates in recognition of their achievement and contribution.
c) The winning applicant(s) will become the event officers and will be responsible for the coordination of the event with the help and guidance of relevant ASOC execs.
Event Details
a) The winning event will be held and promoted as an ASOC event and will be allocated a budget of $400.
b) Applicants may choose whether or not they want the entire cost of the event to be covered by the $400 or to charge an extra fee to cover the remaining amount. The event must cost no more than $60 per person not including the $400 funding.
c) Event submissions must be significantly different from events currently being run by ASOC in 2008.
d) The date and time of the event are left up to the applicant but must be within 28 June to 9 August 2008.
e) The event should encourage some form of team involvement and/or cooperation.
f) The target number of participants in the actual event should be 40 or more.
g) Events must not involve dangerous behaviour, illegal substances or have an emphasis on the consumption of alcohol.
How to submit an entry
a) Applications to ASOC Apprentice should be posted on the ‘ASOC Apprentice Applications’ topic in the ASOC forums which will be open at 12:00 AM on 21 April 2008.
b) Entries posted should contain
- the names of those involved
- what the event consists of
- an explanation of how the money will be allocated and what other costs are involved
- why you believe you event should be selected as the winning entry.
c) In the case that two similar ideas are proposed, the earlier submission will be given preference and the second item will be removed if the difference is not deemed significant enough to warrant a separate proposal.
d) ASOC members may suggest changes to ideas through the ASOC forum. The incorporation of these suggestions may be decided upon by the applicant. Event proposals may be updated by those who submitted the idea.
e) The final event proposal must be submitted by email to social@asoc.unsw.edu.au by 9:00 PM on 4 May 2008 and applications will be judged on this proposal.
Selection of the Winning Entry
a) The ASOC Executive will select the finalists and of those, ASOC members are able to vote for their preferred event through the ASOC website.
b) Members are given the right to make 1 vote as to which event they would prefer to be run. ASOC Executive members are allocated 2 votes.
