What is ASOC Peer Mentoring?

Coordinated by student volunteers, ASOC Peer Mentoring program aims to assist students with the transition from high school into university.  This initiative is supported by the UNSW Counselling Unit and all mentors will complete an ASB Peer-Mentoring Training program.

What does ASOC Peer Mentoring aim to do?

The ASOC Peer Mentoring program runs for the first five weeks of Session One.  It involves weekly meetings within small groups of students. Mentors within each group will act as facilitators for discussion. Activities which will be conducted during these weekly meetings include:-
•    Settling into Actuarial Studies
•    Teaching, learning and assessment at university
•    How to get involved in student clubs and activities
•    As well as any other activities outlined in the ASOC Peer Mentoring manual which will be provided to successful
mentors.

ASOC Peer Mentoring allows the opportunity for first year ASOC students to meet other first year students outside of class hours during those first few weeks of University.  We are seeking responsible, friendly, outgoing applicants who wish to be a part of this program.

Possible interviews will be conducted in Week 13.
